..: AYVALIK :..
Ayvalik is a pretty town on the Aegean coast,
located about 120 km north of Izmir.
The visitor who chooses Ayvalık as his /
her destination in Turkey would possibly be charmed by the "fusion" of
East and West, the architectural heritage of Greek Anatolian
craftsmanship, the pine forest and gorges of the "Kaz Dağları", the
mountains where the first beauty contest was held in Greek Mythology.
What makes Ayvalık so particular is its
natural beauty. One who happens to come to this ancient borderlands from
Pergamon to Troy should be ready to be fascinated by the view of
the soft slopes along the Aegean Sea, land of the olive tree, laurel and
grape, of pinetree and stone oak.
One can easily associate Ayvalık with red
- brick roofs and wonderful portals carved out of pink sandstone that
satisfy one's desire for harmony and beauty.
